When the weather gets warmer and everyone to the pool what is your favorite wine. Personally, I don’t want anything to heavy or complex. Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling are great white wines for the hot days of Summer. But if you like red wines go for a lighter bodied red served lightly chilled. Beaujolais is an excellent choice. Beaujolais are light bodied rede with intense color and fruitiness and low tannins. They are meant to be drunk young and chilled to a temperature in the mid 50’s similar to a rose’. The basic red wine from Beaujolais is simply labeled Beaujolais which generally come from less distinguished vineyards in the south of France. The wines labeled Beaujolais-Villages are a step up in quality and come from grapes grown in villages located in the hilly min-section. The best Beaujolais wines are Beaujolais Cru which come from one of ten villages in the northern part of the region. These wines go well with cheese, appetizers and other light fare. Have fun tasting these different wines and have a great summer. Check out TwistedCorkscrew for all your favorite wine accessories.
