Summer (Swimming Pool) Wines

When the weather gets warmer and everyone to the pool what is your favorite wine. Personally, I don’t want anything to heavy or complex. Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling are great white wines for the hot days of Summer. But if you like red wines go for a lighter bodied red served lightly chilled. Beaujolais is an excellent choice. Beaujolais are light bodied rede with intense color and fruitiness and low tannins. They are meant to be drunk young and chilled to a temperature in the mid 50’s similar to a rose’. The basic red wine from Beaujolais is simply labeled Beaujolais which generally come from less distinguished vineyards in the south of France. The wines labeled Beaujolais-Villages are a step up in quality and come from grapes grown in villages located in the hilly min-section. The best Beaujolais wines are Beaujolais Cru which come from one of ten villages in the northern part of the region. These wines go well with cheese, appetizers and other light fare. Have fun tasting these different wines and have a great summer. Check out TwistedCorkscrew for all your favorite wine accessories.

Tucson Arizona

We spent a great week in Tucson a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful scenery, great hiking trails and friendly people. Besides Tucson we visted Scottsdale, Tombstone and Bisbee. We hiked some excellent trails in the national parks..........what a great bargain national parks provide. Also visted the Pima Air and Space Museum and the Aircraft Boneyard truly amazing. We stayed at the Wingate and met a father and his daughter (Hanna) from Ipswich, England. We were relaxing in the pool when we met Hanna very cute and engaging young girl . She was funny and talkative and we had a pleasant time swimming with her. Hanna and her father were supposed to leave for home on Thursday but their return was posponed because of the ash clouds from the volcano in Iceland. We hope they arrived home safely in time for Hanna's 10th birthday on Tuesday (April, 20th). If you know Hanna from Ipswich please wish her a belated birthday wish from the American's (Jim, Mimi, John, Cindy). Tell Hanna I'm practicing the swimming strokes she taught me. Visit TwistedCorkscrew for great wine accessories.
